Our Corporate Responsibility Report
Our Corporate Responsibility Report sets out our annual performance in areas covering our environmental, community, workplace and marketplace activities, across our UK and international operations. It includes case studies, future aims and targets as well as details of our stakeholder engagement and an independent assurance report.
We endeavour to tailor our reporting to what our stakeholders are most interested in. We have a huge range of stakeholders - customers, investors, employees, shareholders, regulators, local and national government, suppliers, community and environmental organisations and the wider publics. We consult with stakeholder representatives to determine reporting priorities.

Drinking Water Quality Report
Almost 2,000 million litres of water is supplied every day to approximately 3.2 million homes and businesses.
We are committed to safeguarding and improving public health. Similarly, we are committed to protecting and improving the environment of the community we serve. We invested £700 million between 2000 and 2005 just to make drinking water quality better.
We are continuing to improve the quality of drinking water supplies. Between 2010 - 2015, we are investing £3.6 billion to meet ever-increasing water quality standards, deliver environmental improvements and make our network more reliable.
The continuing investment is needed to meet ever higher legislative standards under the EU Drinking Water Directive and further improve the services we provide our customers. We continue to consult our customers and listen to your concerns and priorities. A particular focus is investment to improve the taste and appearance of water.
Conservation, Access and Recreation Report
United Utilities has produced an annual Conservation, Access and Recreation Report since 1991. These reports are aligned to the guidance provided to water undertakers, sewerage undertakers and the Environment Agency, as set out by the Department of Environment, Transport and the Regions (DETR), now superseded by the Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA).
The reports highlight the issues, operations and activities on our land. They provide an overview of the projects and initiatives taking place to further conservation, access and recreation on our land and operational sites each year. This includes progress on the Sustainable Catchment Management Programme (SCaMP).
