Tap into Water
Tap into Water

With the credit crunch and climate change high on every agenda people are more aware than ever of the challenge of remaining environmentally focused while tightening the purse strings. United Utilities' tap into water campaign is a great way for everybody to save money and do their bit to reduce their carbon footprint at the same time.

Our campaign focuses on tap water being the right choice and has three key messages:

  • Tap water is right for your pocket. Our tap water is value for money - on average a litre of tap water costs about 1p. According to the Consumer Council for Water an adult drinking the recommended eight glasses of water a day would only pay about £1 a year from the tap compared to £500 for a mid-priced bottled water.
  • Tap water is the right choice for the environment. For every megalitre of tap water the carbon footprint is approximately 159kg CO2 equivalent which can be up to six times less than comparable products.
  • The overall quality of the drinking water in the North West is excellent and is 99.92% compliant with national and European standards measured by the Drinking Water Inspectorate.

It makes sense not only for your pocket but also for the environment to choose tap over bottled water. So don't spend up - fill up from the tap and do your pocket and the environment a favour.
