Sandbach water pressure improvements
Mid Cheshire pipeline
We are constructing a new 19.5km water pipeline that will stretch across the heart of the Cheshire countryside to tackle low pressure problems for hundreds of properties around Northwich, Winsford, Middlewich and Sandbach. The population in this area has grown significantly since the exising water network was commissioned; and it is expected to grow further in the coming years. Extensive housing development has added to the demand for water, and at peak times when customers use a lot of water at the same time their water pressure can temporarily dip.
Construction of the pipeline has been split into three phases and connects into the existing network via pumping stations. Phase 1 and 2 stretch for 15km through fields from Minshull Vernon to Eaton via Worleston and runs underneath the Shropshire Union Canal and the River Weaver. When complete in spring 2010 the pipeline will transport the equivalent of an extra 100 million glasses of water each day. This will help to alleviate poor pressure problems and will ensure that Cheshire has a modern, reliable network befitting its population.
